Course Description This American Heart Association Heartsaver AED course provides basic techniques of adult CPR and using the automatic external defibrillator (AED), pediatric CPR may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children are present. Students will learn to use a barrier device during CPR and administer first aid for choking in the responsive victim. The course teaches how recognition of the signs for 3 major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, and choking. Course Length: 3-4 hours Intended Audience: All lay responders with a duty to respond including firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, employees in the workplace, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death and other lay rescuers who may need to respond to a cardiac emergency. Student Materials: Heartsaver AED Provider materials provided. Card Type: American Heart Association Heartsaver AED course completion card provided. Written/Skills Evaluation: Required for successful completion of this course |
